Kamisama Hajimemashita 2nd season episode 1 (episode review)

My feels are all over this episode. This reminds me of how much I love Kamisama. I'm a manga reader but I'm going to write this review without comparisons. So we start of with a short recap on the first season to remind the watchers or make the new ones understand. There's a new character chillin in a tree that showed up in the last season. And a couple of new ones in the OP and ED. Otohiko comes to the shrine and tells Nanami that she's been invited to a gods meeting in Izumo cause she's the current land god of the Mikage shrine. But that she has to go through a test where she has to properly raise a shikigami. She declines first but decides to do it so that she can find Mikage for Tomoes sake while he is against it. She gets an egg that's gonna feed on her ''chi'' and hatch within 7 days.
Because of her being chosen there are others that get jealous and the miasma is rapidly growing within the school. Nanami gets attacked in the library but Tomoe saves her. The eggs hatches later that day and out comes an adorable monkey after Mizuki stepped on the egg. The day after Nanami returns to the library to see that it still looks terrible from yesterday and the demons smashed body on the floor attacks her and feeds on her powers allowing it to get stronger, while her talismans didn't work at all. Tomoe managed to save her. In the infirmary she meets Otohiko and tells her to name her shikigami. She gives him the name Mamoru and because of that he realizes his duty and while running toward Tomoe fighting against the demon he sets up a barrier against the miasma and the monster. We see a sweet hug between Nanami and Tomoe. Nanami passes the test and is going to Izumo the next episode. So what we got from this episode was Nanami gaining her new power Mamoru, Tomoe is starting to develop feelings towards Nanami and is surprised by the things he says because of that and preparation for the gods meeting.
This is one of my favorite shoujo anime out there so I really recommend checking it out. I you like shoujo rom/coms with super natural elements. If you want something a bit similar I recommend the anime Inu x boku.
